This is only the second series by Sebastian Michael that I have had the pleasure of evaluating, but even with that limited bit of experience I can say, without reservation, that he has a unique level of skill and creative vision.

The light is natural, filtered daylight, muted and indirect. Georgina B., wearing a short grey skirt and a bulky white sweater, lounges among the pillows on a pleasantly rumpled bed. She has a faraway look in her eyes, and this intriguing distance is emphasized by the photographer’s none too subtle use of depth of field. In many of the early shots Georgina’s face is in soft focus, placing the visual emphasis elsewhere.

Her position changes, much as a dreamer shifts in the course of sleep. Her skirt creeps upward. Her white cotton panties are revealed. The camera lingers. Georgina B. appears to be lost in thought. The viewer begins to have thoughts of his own.

The panties come off, in due time. As does the sweater. But this really isn’t a strip show. There’s too much style, too much emotional weight, too much intriguing atmosphere. As portrayed her, Georgina B. is no ordinary model. And it’s quite clear that Sebastian Michael is no ordinary artist.

With a piano providing the soundtrack, this tasteful and low-key effort from Fenix allows the viewer the simple pleasure of ten minutes in the company of Lili H. — a welcome and enjoyable interlude.

Wearing a little black dress, without any unnecessary underthings, Lili H. first appears at the top of a staircase. Some teasing up-skirt glimpses add a tempting hint of things yet to come. Lily wanders down the stairs and through a hallway, giving videographer Fenix the opportunity to play with the effects of light and shadow.

The model wanders into a large room. A music video plays on a television monitor and Lili H. moves around the space, easing her trim and inviting body out of her garment. She is obviously enjoying her performance and a smile threatens to burst forth on her pretty mouth. The viewer may find himself smiling, as well.

With her cute and kittenish personality, and her petite and shapely body, Lili H. is a pleasure to experience — in “Mostly,” she is entirely adorable.

Viewers of this set may experience a bit of déjà vu, I know I initially did. But I was able to unravel the mystery. Every visitor to MetArt gets a glimpse of it. And every time a member returns to the site, it’s right there, in the upper, left of the landing page: an image of Jasmine A. in her ballet slippers and violet tutu. While that single image is a longstanding element of MetArt’s site design, the multi-part series has a rich history here. The first installment of Goncharov’s “Ballet Rehearsal” appeared in January, 2004. Additional “episodes” appeared in 2004 and 2005. But the photographer has waited until now to bring down the curtain on his masterful series.

Let me simply say that it was certainly worth the wait! But wait a bit longer before jumping to any conclusions about the set. Jasmine isn’t simply a model wearing a ballerina costume. She is a classically trained ballerina who is also a model. As a result, she can assume poses far beyond the physical ability of even the most fit and agile female. In dozens of images here, for example, she is en pointe, standing gracefully on the very tips of her toes. To adequately describe this set would require far more space than I’ve been allotted, and I find myself compelled to go have a leisurely look at the first three sets in this masterful quartet. I expect many others will have a similar reaction.

Apart from the model, of course, choices made while selecting props, colors and lighting are critical to the success (or failure) of a photo series. For this, the MetArt debut of Kayla Louise, photographer Majoly has chosen a scarlet sofa against an orange wall. The simple lines of the couch and the bold colors “pop” even when softly lit, as they are here. And the tonal palette is extremely complementary to the model’s smooth, rich, tawny skin tones.

Kayla brings the ease of a professional to these photos, and she “hits her marks” without the slightest hint of effort. A figure-hugging black and white dress plays a central role, and the hem is quick to rise revealing the pleasing absence of panties. Foot and shoe enthusiasts will no doubt enjoy the strappy high-heels she wears for the set’s entirety, and the smooth, strong, shapely lines of her legs project a powerful and undeniable sensuality — #0108 illustrates my point perfectly.

This is a gentle, eye-pleasing set, photographed in a pastoral setting, that emphasizes simple beauty and style while subtly down-playing overt, explicit eroticism. If this is to your taste, you will easily become seduced by the relaxed mood of the series, and the raven-tressed beauty of the model, Mila L.

Much of the set finds Mila clad in a short dress as she sits in a swing hanging from a tree limb. Her beautiful and expressive face projects a pleasing range of moods, and the hem of her garment affords several teasing up-skirt views. The portraits and headshots in this collection receive added attention and care from photographer Dmitry Maslof, and many of these images have a technically sophisticated, high fashion feel that still manages to “work” in the rural location.

What it may lack in explicit views and overt drama, “Fivia” more than makes up for in the skill and style of the photographs, and the intriguing beauty of Mila L.
